氧化鎳系綠色粉末，過熱時為 粉末，比重6.6-6.8，熔點1990℃。不溶于水和液氨。溶于硫酸、硝酸、鹽酸和氨。在空氣中熱至400℃氧化成三氧化二鎳，在600℃時，則又還原為一氧化鎳，在低溫煅燒制得的一氧化鎳，具有化學活性。如果在1000℃煅燒制得的氧化鎳呈綠 、活性小。而且隨制備溫度的升高、氧化鎳的密度和電阻增加，溶解度和催化活性降低。
用 途 氧化鎳用作搪瓷的密著劑、陶瓷和玻璃的顏料。也應用於磁性材料、冶金和顯像管行業，也是製造鎳鹽及鎳催化劑的原料。
